Salvaging and Sourcing

All of the wood Tropical Salvage uses is salvaged. We source it from rivers and bogs, landslides, lahars and land conversion projects driven by infrastructure modernization. We acquire wood species with broadly variable color, figure and distress, and then we skillfully and artfully craft them into extraordinary furniture and homewares.

Furniture and Homeware

Tropical Salvage's main business is salvaging wood and turning this resource into beautiful, affordable furniture and homeware. Working in Indonesia, our wood is largely salvaged on the islands of Java, Sumatra, Kalimantan and Sulawesi. We mill and carefully dry our wood at our production site in Central Java. We design and produce in-house, employing over 60 people in Indonesia and the US to create and sell our products.

Each piece of Tropical Salvage furniture is truly unique. We work in one of the most biodiverse regions on Earth, and have access to a range of wood species that display stunning character.
